The course requires some experience in watercolour. Basic techniques such as mixing and applying paint are not covered in this course. Complete beginners should try the free Starting Watercolour course first or have a look at my YouTube channel.
Not at all. From the time you first access the course, a subject will be added each week for six weeks but you can take the course at your own pace. You can even revisit the course as often as you like.
The course discussion group is a great place to ask for advice or ask questions. As well as myself, all of the members of the group have enrolled in the course so it is a good way to share ideas. I will also use the discussion group to notify students of additional material that may be added to the course.
The six subjects are varied and have been chosen to highlight many of the common features of the landscape. You will learn how to choose and compose a subject as well as how to approach the painting of the subject. I cover choice of materials, colour mixing and I will be passing on lessons learned during over 35 years of watercolour painting.

This was another well-thought-out course that has helped to knock off the rust and get me painting! Grahame is a remarkable teacher - easy to follow and down to earth, with a great sense of humor. I am so grateful for him and for my supportive fellow painters. Thank you!

Read MoreWhen you want to improve your skills in watercolor, then there is no getting around Grahame Booth and his wonderful courses, which are state-of-the-art. Grahame explains briefly and crisply, and gets quickly to the point. His guidance through the course is impeccable and he leaves no questions open. Grahame is the master of simplifying complex scenes. His individual comments on each picture complete each course. I did his course in 2024 but I found this years’s course even more ambitious. The six motives offered a wide range of challenges, variety and tones. What more could you ask for?
