Grahame Booth

Grahame Booth is one of Ireland’s best known watercolour tutors. He has been teaching watercolour for over 35 years at workshops all over the world and his paintings have won many national and international awards. Grahame has written three books on watercolour techniques and has contributed to many others. He also writes regularly for Artists and Illustrators and The Artist magazines in the UK. He has a strong online presence with demonstrations and workshops and his YouTube painting channel has over 40000 subscribers .

Take your first steps in watercolour

Welcome to the world of watercolour. With enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and plenty of practice, anyone can learn how to paint. How to use colour can be a challenge for beginners so in this lesson we use only one colour and instead we concentrate on tone (or value). The lightness or darkness of the paint is much more important than colour.
